Meet The Teacher

Performer | Presenter | Educator

Katie Rayner is an educator and performer with over a decade of training and a broad range of onstage, onscreen and corporate experience. Katie has a professional yet warm disposition and brings enthusiasm, commitment and good-humour to every project she takes on. Drawing on her background in presenting, musical theatre, classical and contemporary acting and various styles of dance, she offers well-rounded and in-depth tuition across a range of performing arts disciplines.

Katie’s passion for performance began from a young age. She started her training at the age of 3, learning ballet at the Wells School of Dancing in Essex, under it's founder Sarah Wells FISTD. Throughout her time at the school, she also took classes in Modern and Jazz dance, alongside singing and acting classes with Westend performer and LAMDA tutor Cara Brightiff. Katie took part in multiple productions at the Towngate Theatre with Wells and volunteered as a class assistant until leaving the school to attend university.

Throughout her education, Katie seized every opportunity to get on stage, from playing Mary in a Nativity at the age of 6, to performing in the PUSH Physical Theatre Festival at the BRIT School. At Shenfield High School, where she was a member of the ‘Gifted and Talented’ programme and Performing Arts Academy, she developed her technique while working towards a Distinction* in BTEC Performing Arts, while applying her training to countless plays and musicals, including Anything Goes (Reno Sweeney), The Lion King (Timon) and Fame (Serena Katz).

In September 2021, Katie moved to Gloucestershire to work towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performing Arts at the University of Gloucestershire. Since enrolling here, she has had the opportunity to learn from talented performers and academics with experience across all areas of the arts sector. Alongside this, Katie has performed in multiple productions across the county, in theatres such as The Playhouse and The Everyman in Cheltenham and The King’s Theatre in Gloucester. These productions include plays such as an adaptation by Kate Littlewood of Federico Garcia Lorca's Yerma (as Yerma), as well as a number of original musicals including 'The Vampyre', 'The Gemini Tree' and 'Backstage'.

Alongside her stage work, Katie delved into the world of screen, taking on a range of acting and presenting roles. During work on the Royal Television Society Award Nominated production, Reduce, Reuse, Revamp, she discovered an enthusiasm for presenting which she has since pursued further. In 2024, Katie has presented a piece at the All On One Bench Conference for global restaurant chain Wagamama, presented a hometime radio show on Gloucester FM and is currently working with Cancer Research UK, hosting their charity events in multiple counties across the country.

Now, Katie has decided to share her knowledge and experience with the next generation of performers, public speakers and presenters by teaching LAMDA with Public Speech Services, teaching Dance with Progressive and coaching vocals with The Rock Project. Katie's students have been greatly successful in their exams and performances since working with her, she currently has a 100% distinction rate for her LAMDA students and she is looking forward to watching her singers perform at The Rock Project's upcoming gig at The Fleece.

Filming at Dusk
"Katie is a natural presenter; enthusiastic, patient and completely at ease on camera. Her ability and willingness to take instruction made my job as director so much easier, and she was a joy to have on set!"
